How to Start your Own Video Publishing Company

With technolgy that we have at our fingertips, its a no-brainer to want to start a Video publishing company. Today Just for Quitters will walk you through some of the basics to get you pointed in the right direction. Leave some good feedback and link into the site!

The trouble with publishing a book, from a first-time writer’s point of view, lies with the slowness of the publishing industry. Once written, the book has to be accepted by a publisher, rewritten according to the editor, then scheduled, manufactured, distributed, and marketed. Most books don’t get much in the way of marketing. Thats why most author’s talk about the best way to sell a book is not at the book store. To start it might be easier to do self publish or sell an E-book online. Most of you out there have purchased this online.

WHY NOT DO BOTH?

This is something that “Just for Quitters” is already in production. The upfront cost can be pretty pricey for self publish and if you didn’t do sufficient market study.  The money invested could be lost. The last thing you need is a debt figure in the 5 digits and a couple of boxes of boxes that is only hurting your self esteem.

An easier approach!

Everybody nowadays, have kept up with technology and have a DVD player and a computer to play your Movie. They say it takes about a good year of planning, mapping, and brainstorming to write a bestselling book. It could take only 6-12 weeks to plan, write, tap and edit your self published video. You do this for 6-12 weeks and now you can sell copies through direct mail and the internet. You can only copy the videos when you have demand, so in essence you don’t incur extra “dead” cost with your product.

HOW TO:

What to do and how to do it! The first approach if you have no experience in this arena is to take some skill that you may have and research the market a little bit. This is where the the time frame can come in to play. Everybody has a special talent and you can use thiss to market. Check out Jay Kruse, his website is awesome and his video “make it right” is even better.

If you deliver valuable information, in quantity, in a reasonably decent production, your production will stick. If you go for effect and have jazzy, corny effects then your consumers will quickly drop you as a publisher. They’d much rather buy and keep an amateur production which fills informational needs than one that’s pretty and has a bunch of dumb effects.

You have to keep in mind that this is a  business for profit, not Spielberg. Profit will come from delivering large amounts of valuable information, not fancy video effects, super quality production, or beautiful packaging. Once your customers trust you, your packaging doesn’t matter at all. Almost everyone trusts a company that gives written guarantees and takes credit cards. You can also add bonuses to your purchase like, a monthly newsletter, e-book that goes with it or a transcribe version of the video.

You guys want to get really in depth check this guy out his name is Larry Kless

*As a quick idea to get some cash to buy that sweet HD camcorder. Start with the Sony Webby its only 199 at any Sears or Best Buy. Print up some business card locally, join the Chamber of Commerce and start filming family events, weddings and local sports. Give them an offer they can’t refuse.. So many Dad’s out there would like to watch their kids sports events but have to watch the damn thing through there small lens. Not to mention they miss all the good stuff trying to catch the game on the camcorder. You can outsource his duties as a parent and he can have great quality DVD’s that your local guru produced for you.
